National Breastfeeding Celebration Week 2016

  #celebratebreastfeeding   This extended week is an opportunity for mothers, breastfeeding supporters and health professionals to come together and share what works well to support breastfeeding in local communities. I often do a little 'Breastfeeding' search on the internet and hit 'News', Its a quick snap shot of how the worlds media are portraying Breastfeeding. The first thing that pops up is a story from the US where a man has become insanely jealous of his wife Breastfeeding their son, so he decided to threaten her with a shot gun........really? This happens? (jaw on the floor type moment) Then a refreshing review about a photographer Jen Pan who has decided to hit back at Breastfeeding shammers and dedicate her entire project to breastfeeding publicly :)  I'm loving the first sentence!...

Once you have mastered the art of latching-on and breastfeeding is on its way to being established, this is possibly the best Facebook group you could ever be part of! Milky Moments

Hi folks just a quick blog on my new super-duper Christmas present from the hubster!   Milky Moments is written by Ellie Stoneley and illustrated by Jessica D'Alton Goode, and was first published in 2015. There are so many breastfeeding books/texts out there for mothers. I was so delighted to find this colourful book at my local La Leche League meeting. Donating Breastmilk

  The one thing I was really keen to do having breastfed for six months was to donate milk to my local special care baby unit. Having received a blood transfusion around the time my son was born I was mortified to learn that this might not be possible. I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and carried on breastfeeding my baby. It wasn't until I returned to work after 11 months and began pumping on breaks at work that I realised I could be doing something useful with my pumped milk. After all....my son wouldn't take it...
